Principals love to brag about their teachers! Today I want to tell you about our innovative Physical Education Dept. Mrs. Daday, Mrs. Rabasco, and Ms. Tahan work diligently to provide students with varied wellness experiences. Traditional sports untis are interspersed with offerings like general fitness, circus arts, cooperative games, and ballroom dancing. Right now our students are learning about yoga.
Why do yoga? According to Yoga Guru, John Tunney, on The Yoga Site:
The short answer is that yoga makes you feel better. Practicing the postures, breathing exercise and meditation makes you healthier in body, mind and spirit. What’s more, yoga:
- Improves muscle tone, flexibility, strength and stamina
- Reduces stress and tension
- Boosts self esteem
- Improves concentration and creativity
- Lowers fat
- Improves circulation
- Stimulates the immune system
- Creates sense of well being and calm.
