4th Grade Band Night

All concerts are joyous occasions in schools!  There is something, however, especially moving about a student’s very first opportunity to perform before an audience.   That is the magic of this evening.  Our band program starts in the beginning of fourth grade.  Within nine months our band teachers, Mr. Myint and Mr. Reynolds, have taught them how produce a sound on their instrument, have the sound purify into a specific note. read music so that the correct note is played,  and then hold a specific part while other instruments play something different.  Then, miraculously, music happens!!!

The highlight of this evening was Duke Ellington’s “C Jam Blues” which contained a rousing refrain and opportunity for every interested young musician to improvise a solo!

What never ceases to amaze this principal is what elementary students are capable of achieving under the support of talented teachers!
